FEUD OF THE YEAR: John Cena V. Kevin Owens
Did anyone see this coming? It was May 18, and John Cena had just came off a big victory, defending his U.S. Title against Rusev in a brutal I Quit match the previous night. Being the champion he is, Cena continued his U.S. Open Challenge! (Which is one of my favorite things to happen this year. More on that later) After a long promo who came out? None other than the NXT Champion Kevin Owens! This was a big markout moment, as it was super unexpected. Just watch.
What unfolded was a two month feud with three awesome matches and great promos. If you haven't, watch the matches ASAP. While Owens may have lost the feud, people need to realize that it solidified Owens as a top star. That's why it's my favorite feud of 2015.
PPV OF THE YEAR: Wrestlemania 31
Heading into 'Mania, people had no idea what to expect. It honestly could've been really bad. It ended up being the exact opposite. From the preshow Tag Team Championship match all the way to Seth Rollins' "Heist of The Century," it was all real good! Rollins falling to the Viper, Cena winning for America, Undertaker solidifying himself as the face of fear, and Seth Rollins ultimately escaping with the title, I loved it.
DIVA OF THE YEAR: Sasha Banks
When it comes to Women's Wrestling, Sasha is simply the best. Whether it be as NXT Champion or leader of Team BAD, she's the best. Just watch any of her NXT Takeover matches and you'll find out why she's the next big thing, Sasha Banks is a star in the making.
SEGMENT OF THE YEAR: John Cena U.S. Open Challenge
John Cena is truly one of a kind. If you say he's a bad wrestler, these segments totally prove you wrong. After winning the U.S. title at Wrestlemania, Cena defended the title in great matches every week. It was unexpected, but always satisfying. That's why it's my segment of the year.
BREAKOUT STAR OF THE YEAR: Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens debuted just over a year ago and look at what he's done. He destroyed Sami Zayn in his first night, won the NXT title two months to the day of his debut, main evented 3 NXT Takeover specials, held the NXT title for 5 months, beat JOHN CENA in his first match and he's our current Intercontinental Champion. This is only the beginning of the Age of Owens. Fight Owens Fight.
TAG TEAM OF THE YEAR: The New Day
When these three came together, it was weird. It just seem liked WWE put together a team of black jobbers. And at first, all New Day were was a cheesy dancing group. This changed when they turned heel. Consistently good matches, the charisma and shenanigans are just great. New Day Rocks.
MATCH OF THE YEAR: Bayley VS Sasha Banks-NXT Women's Championship_NXT Takeover Brooklyn
I was in the Barclays Center the night Bayley and Sasha squared off, and it was something else. Everything was great. The environment, the emotion and of course, the wrestling. Sasha Banks is such a great heel. Watching her in person makes her seem like th b*tchiest woman out there and that along with her wrestling ability is amazing. Bayley is also an awesome wrestler and extremely lovable. This is my favorite match I've seen in person and my 2015 Match of the Year.
SUPERSTAR OF THE YEAR: John Cena
John Cena has been a machine this year. He's had so many great matches from his Triple threat with Rollins and Lesnar to the Rollins match at Summerslam along with his amazing U.S. title defenses, Cena has proved himself to be one of the best. 2015 will go down as the year of Cena.
